No Horizon (2007)
Live-art event; graphite powder and transparent tape (line) on fencing boards; presented at Camberwell Arts Festival/South London Gallery.
This event interrogated a wall surrounding vacated houses in East London, homes planned for demolition. The actions used in this work/event let passersby see what appeared as a kind of physical engagement with the entire length of the wall, 'outlined' by semi-transparent tape rubbed over by hand using graphite powder. Audiences were then given a form of seeing the wall as a perimeter, barrier, and paradoxical 'horizon' – echoing notions of frontier, open landscapes, conditions of possibility – and inherent impossibility.
